It is our purpose as a local church to unite around the three-fold theme of Worship, Evangelism, and Discipleship.
A healthy church will reach up, reach out and reach within.
Matthew 4:11We were made to commune with God and enjoy His presence. By reaching up in worship, we are obeying the command to love God with all our hearts realizing God seeks true worship and true worshippers; by reaching out to others, we are obeying the command of God to love our neighbors as ourselves and honoring the Great Commission to go out from the local assembly to touch the lost world; and by reaching within, we are obeying the command to make disciples through the teaching the Word of God.Worship at Faith Bible Chapel South manifests in the following ways:Singing: Ephesians 5:19
Giving: 1 Corinthians 16:1-2
Commitment: Romans 12:1-2
Baptism: Romans 6:3-4
Praying: Psalm 95:6
Preparation: Ephesians 4:11-12
Hearing the Word: John 17:17
Inspiration: Isaiah 40:31
Celebration: Psalm 122:1
The Lord’s Supper: 1 Corinthians 11
At Faith Bible Chapel South, we believe worship is
Verbal (yielding our voices to God)
Inclusive (everyone participating)
Physical (expressing worship bodily; raising hands, standing, kneeling, etc.)
Worship is not a matter of personal choice or style. All we know regarding worship is from scriptural mandate and practice. We were made to worship God.
Evangelism
We exist to communicate God’s word.
“His intent was that (through the church), the manifold wisdom of God should be made known…”
Ephesians 3:10
Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But who can ask Him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells him?
Romans 10:13-14
Why Faith Bible Chapel South must grow and never stop growing:
- Because God loves people!
2 Peter 3:9
- Because God commands us to reach out!
Luke 14:23
- Because growth is God’s will!
Colossians 2:19
Matthew 16:18
Unbiblical excuses for not growing:
- “God isn’t interested in numbers”
- “Our church wants quality not quantity”
- “Large churches are impersonal”
We count people because people count!
We can grow larger and smaller at the same time: large assemblies with small groups
Discipleship
We exist to educate God’s people through preaching and teaching God’s Word.
“Let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ” and (go on unto maturity…)
Hebrews 6:1
“Grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
2 Peter 3:18
“(God has given)…some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of the ministry, so that the Body of Christ may be built up until we all…become mature…like Christ.”
Ephesians 4:11-13
